Every February the United States sets aside one day in February to
honor its leaders. This day is called President’s Day. Originally
this day was set aside to honor George Washington’s birthday, which is
February 22. The first celebration of Washington’s occurred in
1796, the last year of his presidency. Washington’s
birthday was celebrated each subsequent year on February 22 until 1971.
In that year President Nixon signed a bill making the third Monday of
February “President’s Day”. There were two reasons for creating
this federal holiday. One, was to have a holiday that honored all
presidents. The other reason was to give federal employees a standard
three day weekend. So let us celebrate President’s Day by taking a quiz. Find out how
much you know about some ofthe 42 men who have led our country. How is it possible that only 42 men have served as president if
George W. Bush, is our 43rd president? George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush are the second father son
combination to serve as president. Who was the first set? At 5’4” and 100 pounds, he was the smallest president. Who was
he? Who was the youngest person ever to serve as President? Who is the only man to ever have been the President of the United
States and Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court? Two bachelors were elected President. One stayed a bachelor, the
other became the only president to be married in the White House. Who
are these two presidents? Which President was never elected to either the office of President
or Vice President? Who was the first president to be born an American citizen? Which president was the first president to be inaugurated in
Washington, D.C.? Which two presidents both died on the same day? Several presidents attended West Point. Who is the only president to
